Student Council
Our School Council allows students of all ages to take a leadership role and contribute to the democratic processes at Strangford Integrated College. At the beginning of October, we were excited to hold our college elections and after much campaigning, students cast their votes for their elected representative. Thanks to the NI Electoral office for allowing us to borrow their polling booths and ballot boxes for the day and also to the MPs, MLAs and local councillors who stopped by to show their support. The School Council have been exploring how to support the Eco Committee to maintain our Green Flag status, have spent time evaluating our extra-curricular provision especially at break and lunch and are busy thinking ahead to our rewards assembly and evaluating the current rewards system. Last year’s School Council reviewed our uniform with the aim of making it more cost-effective and were successful in getting the blazers changed to a lighter material which is more cost effective and is machine washable. This year’s council are full of ideas and looking forward to seeing what they can achieve. Every year the students enjoy a visit to Stormont Buildings. Last year the council invited along the student council from Kircubbin Integrated Primary and after last year’s success are delighted that KIPS are joining us again this year for the trip.
